Just saw the advert for this and looks impressive. While I love the taste of some deep fried food I tend to avoid it because of how unhealthy it is.

I was wondering does the air fryer do as as good job? Can you get the crispiness like deep frying or is it just a glorified oven?

Anyone got one?

Problem with these things is, like the deep fat fryer, the bread maker, the three tier steamer and the [insert popular boxing legend here] lean mean grilling machine is that they take up loads of space so tend to get shoved into the back of a cupboard and forgotten about.

Personally I would go for the occasional use of a big pan full of oil.

Philips are lying bds, they say on their ad that they invented this concept bit I have had a Tefal Actifry for ages and it seems to do exactly the same thing.

The Actifry is superb and if I could keep one gadget then this would be it

Dunno.

However £200+ for an Airfryer is a fcku of a lot of money when a (small) electronic deep-fat fryer can be had for £15.

Unless you eat fried food 7 days a week, I can't see the expense being justified, tbh.

I think they look impressive when demonstrated but as you say, £200 is absurd for a plastic box containing a heating element and fan, you can get a full size oven for less than £200!
