I've got a weekend on my own, so I'll probably stock up on ribs for during the football tomorrow and a nice bit of steak for dinner.

Makes a nice change from doing a roast for a dozen people last weekend!

So, who has got an exciting culinary weekend approaching, and what are you doing?

Not sure yet to be honest. I quite like the idea of doing something with game though.

Not this weekend, as it looks to be good weather, but there will be an abundance of Wild Boar in the butchers/supermarkets in Luxembourg soon - which will be subjected to slow cooking in the oven. lick

biggrin

the fourth batch is the vintage sauce of the year - out of a stock pot there's only 3 portions left...

btw, here's a good tip - rather than use mince you can get a few sirloin steaks and slice it very, very finely; it binds the sauce slightly better to the pasta

btw - going shooting in two weeks, you want any birds?

Ooh i could be interested depending where you are.... I used to get a lot of pheasants from the road/going beating as a child and not had any fresh game birds since I moved to Wiltshire!

Cooking wise - mushroom (3 kinds) risotto last night, and homemade pizza tonight (god bless PH for recommending pizza stone) but awaiting inspiration for Sunday.

I've got a whole duck defrosting as we speak.

Chinese crispy duck pancakes with spring onions, carrots, cucumber and peppers (all cut finely julienne) with a tub of plum sauce.

I've got a freezer full of hog roast leftovers I scrounged earlier in the year.

The bones and skin made jellied stock, and I'm working my way through the meat as crayfish bait.

Just made some cracking burgers, chips and baked beans to go with it all.

I'd have taken a picture but I only just noticed this thread and we ate everything!

Chili and a baked spud tonight (made the chili a few weeks ago and froze a lot of it).

Meatballs in tomato sauce with pasta tomorrow night. Also going to bake cupcakes tomorrow afternoon as I like taking them to work in my lunch box.

If I've got loads of energy tomorrow morning I might also make some pancakes for my breakfast.
