It's a fairly common practice on whisky threads (and even via whisky facebook connections) to swap whisky samples.

So, anyone fancy it? 50ml samples in a clean miniature bottle and a picture (by email) of the original bottle.

There needs to be a certain amount of common sense, I wouldn't swap a sample of £300 Glenglassaugh for a sample of Highland Leader for example... wink

I'll start smile

Whisky I want

Any expressions from:

Balmenach
Brora
Carsebridge
Coleburn
Convalmore
Dufftown
Glen Albyn
Glen Flagler
Glen Mhor
Glen Ord
Glenallachie
Glenesk
Glenlochy
Glenury-Royal
Invergordon
Kinclaith
Millburn
North Port
Port Askaig
Strathclyde

Whisky I've got
pretty much everything here and a few others, mostly single cask Glendronach.

What a shopping list. You know I want to help - your 'shopping list' looks like mine !! We all would like a Brora.

I did have a Glenburgie (finished - Provenance) - but a brief Google tells me you really would like something older.
They had a St Magdelene open at Skipton last time I was there - filling a mini would be a bit cheeky - but you have been a customer there in the past.

Ah - Strathisla - not open yet - you don't surely want a mere 12yo standard (but very nice) do you ?
You know I have a wee bottle - when I get it back full of a Pussers rum sample.

There might be something else - I will need to look.

The title also raises some questions. Are you carrying the correct amount of facial hair at the present Noel ?
Wadeski must surely be John Craven - marketing / news - same area with a bit of imagination. A couple of us could claim the Cheggers title - if we really wanted to. Who is Mrs Cheggers though ? Am I showing my age relative to others ?

I have just visited the warehouse and updated the spreadsheet for a couple of recent movements. As you know - I buy when I want (cash permitting) but only open a small handful at a time, although many have been tasted at some time. And the last two / three years have been very busy.

We have reached a milestone. 100 unopened bottles - but as I need to open a new batch I need a few more laugh. We cover 7 countries and the average bottle price is only around £40 (careful purchasing - negotiated discounts etc). Its starting to creep as many cheaper drams are already covered. The most expensive is £90. A couple bought near the top end are worth much more now due to careful buying.

As Lefty will agree, this does take some effort - and an understanding wife. Getting past 200 (even if open) deserves big respect. Maybe its time to slow a bit having moved from the last plateau of 20 bottles. One main missing thing is still that auction purchase - but there is something I have in mind. Having ruled out McTears due to postage considerations the scotchwhiskyauctions site is more friendly. Current auction ends this Sunday.

So - all that aside - I have two Strathisla. The distillery standard 12 - and a Provenance 10. So I guess I have that one covered for you.
What shall we open upon my return from our holidays (practically next door to the Wee Dram in Bakewell idea)

I have also been looking at things I might like to open - and something not on your list. How about a mystery dram - up until the photo at the last minute of course - £50+ drams here that I have in mind. I will need to sort some mini bottles.

And - we deserve a big pat on the back - duty, vat, taxed income in the first place. Someone has to pay for the chav's new £90 Nike's.

Should have kept my gob shut. Think we'll do the Provenance - but it'll be a couple of weeks.

PM me your addy please Iain. 'Lefty in Whiskyshire' won't work.

I know your not big on beer, but I had a localish (for you) bottle last night. A Brewdog - '5am .....' - gorgeous.
And back to the subject of miniatures (and swapping etc etc) - Ralfy's vlog review this week was the same subject.

Bump smile

Alex, did that mighty Glendronach arrive yet?

I suggest we have some categories for swapping drams...

<£25
£25-£50
£51-£100
£101-£200
>£201

That 40yo Bunna I reviewed last night is worth £450/bottle these days eek

Anyone like a dram?

Sorry Lefty - no Glendronach as yet. Am hoping for Monday.
Was out for a meal last night with some friends and we were in a pub in Brighton that had the whole Flora and Fauna range – all 14 ! (just checked and it seems there are 26 in the range ?)
Managed to squeeze in both the Mortlach and the Pittyviach – the Mortlach had it for me just lovely.
Will have to look out for a bottle.
Suffering a little this morning – both in the head and in the wallet !

Oof, I didn't realise there were that many. I've got maybe 8 or 10 of them.

You're right about that Mortlach, it's a beaut.

Oh, I think I sent that bottle to your work address, what a retard. banghead

No problem - I try and work from home on Fridays so hopefully it will be on my desk tomorrow morning, which will be a nightmare as I'll have to look and maybe smell it all day long !
Would it be wrong to have a taste with lunch ?

I'll let you know if its there.
Should get bottles this week -will pop some samples in the post.
I did look for miniatures but could only find a Highland Park for £6 or a Glenlivet for £5.50 -bit steep I thought.
