Other than Tennents bar and the Brewdog pub, both of which I know and have enjoyed! Where is good for proper ale/beer i.e. not lager, unless it's very interesting lager! Any suggestions?

Republic Bier Halle/Hof on Gordon St & Sauchiehall St have a huge menu so you're bound to find something interesting - a fave of mine is the Oktoberfest which is only available for a short while as the name suggests, great 2 for 1 pizzas most days.

West Brewery is a micro-brewery in the old Templeton carpet factory on the edge of Glasgow Green, a 5 min walk past Barrowlands but worth it, do their own brews and some interesting others, huge place and food has been recommended by friends although I've only drank there.

Bon Accord near the Mitchell Library, is worth a visit. Hundreds of malts and guest beers. Busy pub at weekends. Decent, cheap grub also.

Blackfriars in the Merchants City, plenty spirits behind the bar. Brew Dog Punk IPA on tap, plus guest beers. I don't rate the food though. Atmosphere is good though.

Sloans in The Argyle Arcade, has been a bar for a long time. Kelburn Goldihops on tap. Busy city bar, that is a treat to find.

Also round the corner from Sloans, The Lab is also worth finding

The above bars mentioned are also ace!
