Great booze on special offer
Discussion
Have you been tempted to try a new wine, beer or cider because of a retailer's special offer and discovered that it's really yummy?
How about we keep these finds in one thread?
I'll kick off with this most drinkable bubbly I found today:
Retailer: Waitrose
Price: £7.49
Name: Lindauer Sauvignon Blanc Brut
Drink type: Sparkling (e.g. Red, white, rose, sparkling, ale, lager, cider, etc.)
Detail: A sparkling, NZ Sauvignon Blanc

I rate cat piss fairly highly compared with Cavas.
I've never found a Spanish or Italian wine I've particularly liked; sparkling or otherwise. The NZ fizz in my OP is very smooth and drinkable. Good party pop or 'just because you want to' drink. It is labelled as 'Brut', but I'd say it's closer to Dry.

"The Ned" Pinot Noir in Co-op at the moment at (IIRC) £7.99.
I think you can also get this in Waitrose, as my wife recognised the name and bought a couple of bottles when she was in the Co-op as it was on offer, sure I've paid over a tenner for it in the past.
Lovely fruity but deep flavour, had it with a slow roasted shoulder of lamb with red cabbage and greens at the weekend, complemented it beautifully.
No shots of the bottles, we drank them

Pretty hard to get a bad wine from the Marlborough area of NZ, but this one, on special offer at £5.49 from Tesco is a great ambassador.
Light, quite fruity (lemony, gooseberry) and easy drinking; with a light meal, as an aperitif or just because you want to.
Retailer: Tesco
Price: £5.49
Name: Wairau Cove, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Drink type: White wine
Detail: NZ Sauvignon Blanc

Brut is dry surely ?
It's extra dry.I suspect Lindauer lies on the boundary between Brut and ED, and Brut sounds more champagne-like so they went with that.
Dry can easily be not dry at all, which is confusing

I was simply trying to emphasise that Brut is drier than 'Dry'.
Rather a nice little basket from Waitrose this morning.
They are running a 25% off offer on all wines and champagnes at the moment (6 bottle minimum purchase). That's rather nice on its own but as we were leaving the housethe postman delivered a letter/mailshot thing from Waitrose which had a 10% off all purchases card in it - valid until 4th November.
So, 3 bottles of Crozes Hermitage, 2 bottles of Cloudy Bay and one of Pouilly Fume, normal total price £82.44 were had for £55.65.
Happy Christmas!
