£74 for a colander seems a little steep…

Can’t you just indirect cook it then direct it to char it up?

I’ve got a pork shoulder on the BBQ to do pulled pork for dinner. However, just heard that we will have an unexpected guest, who is allergic to apples. Unfortunately this means I can’t use my usual mop sauce of apple cider vinegar and apple juice.

Does anyone have any mop sauces ideas that do not include apples?

I did fish on Friday, salmon, tuna and prawns, and chicken and ribs last night, just before the epic storm.

Aged ribeye steak, reverse seared on the barbecue with cherry, to 48C

Seared dirty, directly on the coals

Didn't last long!

Also did 24 hour fresh mint and tikka masala boneless chicken thighs. Cooked indirect with Maplewood smoke, then seared. Roughly chopped, witj fresh coriander and lime juice sprinkled on it. Also didn't last long!

Ha. Anyone else I wouldn't be so accommodating, but it is an old friend that I haven't seen for a long time.

I am going for red wine vinegar/ketchup/Worcestershire sauce/rub spices mop.

I've just replaced the wheels on my Weber 57cm with rubber wheels as the plastic originals were very bumpy when pulling the bbq over the joints of my patio paving stones. It now pulls nice and smoothly over the patio..

Where did you get those from please? Are they straight swap?

Got them from Amazon, they are sold singularly so will need to order two.

Straight swap, just need to pry off the hub/axle caps on each side, I used a couple of flat screwdrivers, they just pop off and then hammer back on.

Thank you.

The original wheels don’t work great with a rattle bbq.

I bought one wheel first to check it would be ok, then purchased the second. You may find cheaper wheels now that you know the size, but these definitely fit perfect.

Thinking of making a couple of Onlyfire upgrades to my Weber 57cm, anyone have these and can comment if they are worth buying please?

Yes they are IMO. I got a Weber brand one last year.

I have that style of gril. It came with my weber. Its good for adding charcoal or woodchips through a long slow cook.

I am having a BBQ later this month with about 40 adults and 20 kids attending, its a BYO BBQ food and drinks affair so I don't need to fully feed 60 people, however I would like to have a couple of things to offer.

I have a large bbq/smoker, what would be some easy crowd pleasers that require minimal hands on time for maximum taste?

we BBQ for that number a couple of times a year for adults (with us providing the food) - we go to CostCo and buy:
- their marinated chicken
- their burgers (and a pack of pre-sliced cheddar)
- plain pork sausages

it is some of the best we have eaten...

then loads of salads - job done...
however when we BBQed for 65 a month ago - we had four BBQs running - a 3 burner weber genesis / 2 x slightly smaller weber Q series and a geeric one of a similar size... we pre-cooked the chicken and sausages in the oven (we have three ovens) and the burgers went straight on raw - even with the pre cooking and the 4 BBQs running we were slightly behind the pace in terms of presenting food when it was wanted - don't under-estimate the effort to get food out for that number of people at the same time...

children - chipolatas are often more popular than sausages and cook faster!

I can, and have BBQ'd for 60 before, but I was married to the grill all day, so I am looking for things that I can prep in advance, and not have to "cook" like chicken and burgers

Something like these ideas, which I have done before, but after other new ideas:

A giant pork joint that I can put in the oven overnight and transfer to the smoker that morning for pulled pork

Bratwurst, which you can boil up in beer, then just crisp on the BBQ for a few seconds
