I find most of the supermarket sausages to be all the same, being quite bland and unpleasant, but the other day I bought a pack of Harrogate sausages from the supermarket and they were very good.

Pretty much any of the hotdogs from the polish section in the chillers of a big supermarket are good.
I agree, but beware that some of them are individually wrapped in a very tight fitting plastic "skin" that looks like part of the sausage. Until you bite into it...

if you live in a city or near one, might be work seeking out any european/polish food shops for kielbasa or other variants. the big supermarkets might still have one or 2 varieties in their world foods chilled section

see third post in thread from me. I thought i'd mention this instead as nobody seems to. Everyone's just posting sausages labelled as hot dogs.

OP here, as the last poster said, i know a good sausage when i see one, and I enjoy a good bratwurst too, I am talking about hot dogs here, I have had them at pubs etc so they do exist!

Rather than these sad looking things:

They sell these in Farmfoods, for considerably less than what they charge on the website. Might be worth a look if you pass by.

You want the Herta Jumbo sausages. 4 pack.

Haven’t tried them, but these look lush:

Actually, I tell a lie, I’ve tried the new, better British bulldog ones in Meat liquor, they weren’t bad, but I think you might do better with one of the girthy ones.

I used to go to Herman Ze German, who had a few branches in London, but they closed down during covid.

A Korean place called Bunsik opened up instead in their Embankment location, their corn dogs are pretty decent.

The sausage is soft, but the breading is crispy on the outside from the deep frying, sort of like having a donut instead of a bun.

Try these....

They have a much tougher skin than the herta ones, and taste better too.

I've been buying these Bunlimited 4 Classic Hot Dogs from Asda/Sainsburys. Pair them up with onions and some brioche Hot Dog Rolls and they are perfect after a hike/cave/mine as they come wrapped in plastic, long life and taste pretty decent.

Are these the same dogs that they sell in the food court for £1.50?

Available in Tesco.
Didnt know you could get these in the supermarket, been looking in asda and morrisons, I love the Käsekrainers but they are expensive from mr sausage and they dont keep as long as the vw ones so dont get them very often.
If you overcook them cheese spurts out the end of the sausage and puts you off eating them.

You should video that and put it on OnlyFans. You'll make a fortune.

+1

I just need to find a suitable sized and robust bread product to pair them with.

Best hot dog I ever had was many years ago in my local pub. The rolls had holes in them and put on hot spikes to warm/toast the inside then the dog and sauce 'slipped' in. Bit like this but more industrial and the rolls weren't spit............

Whilst searching for that I came across this. Check out the video hehe..................

Edit: I choked on my lager when some guy shouted to the landlord "two Vlads please guy" yikes
