'won' the McPlant, that's that little mystery solved, fries were good, somehow the milkshake was not.

Double big mac and mccrispy with a bbq sauce are the innovative new burgers at mcds...wonder how long it took them to come up with that.

I think they have a hard time coming up with ideas bland enough that the British public will buy it.

True, but the taste's of the world/america, historic disney/football tie ins seemed to be popular and were often pretty varied/different to the normal menu.

i figure they dont care as they wont attract many new customers with something interesting so get away with bare minimum that their core base also wouldn't be scared off by as i guess most are the sort who think a breaded mushroom from the food warehouse is sophisticated and one of their 5 a day. (nothing wrong with food warehouse in moderation...or breaded mushrooms, a childhood little chef treat that few places offer these days)

i still pine for the hunchback of notre damn mcchicken cordon bleu, the hot dog and veg spring rolls LTO's of my 90's youth.

We can put men on the moon, but McDonalds UK still incapable of serving a McRib - why am I not surprised... Oh well, an excuse to swerve in to a Maccies on the next trip to the Ring if nothing else.

I've got to take the kids tomorrow as the wife is out.. 9 chicken selects "sharebox" - I'll have that and a drink. Lovely.

Fries are a bit hit and miss at our local.

Honestly, probably one for the "things that annoy be beyond reason" thread but I see all these other countries doing brand new things every month or so and all we get is brining back recycled old items that are literally a kitbash of the existing menu.

Have a look at any other countries McD menu and specials. Puts ours to shame (japan is my favourite, they go well out of their way).

I agree Steve and I include the McRib in that too. They should really be doing four specials a year or however many it is and they should be different. If the big tasty, double Big Mac or anything else is so successful put it on full time and bin something that doesn’t sell much

Honestly not trying to sound contrary, but is it really worth being annoyed about menu items at McDonald's UK?

Sweden has a few specials each year that I love but they do rinse and repeat the same things there as well.

As for the McRib.... would love it here in the UK but I just make do with a microwave thing from Lidl or the Rustlers one and toast the buns rather than microwave them with the "meat" and it's a pretty decent replica biggrin

And now I've typed myself into wanting a chicken selects lunch biggrin

I find it more funny than annoying tbh, McD's recycling the same old stale specials and the masses keep flooding back - shrinkflation, price increases, poor quality, nothing seems to decay the unwavering brand loyalty!

I do love a good McRib but would never stoop to a Rustlers, it's the sort of thing I feel i'd need to wear rubber gauntlets to eat, let alone preparing the thing. Like I said i'd sooner go to Germany for the 'real deal' - UK McD's hasn't had anything to tempt me through the door for a couple of years now at least.

Not at all, it's a very trivial thing and not something any right-minded person should be annoyed by...and yet smile

It's just another sign of how much the standards have slipped for the UK McDs.

Yep, both valid points and the reason I eat microwave burgers from time to time is that I'm lazy and have absolutely no shame - see the breakfast thread for further context biggrin

I think someone said it perfectly, the menu reflects the bland British pallet, and the typical Mcdonald's clientele is that demographic.

Most people in this country still find Tobasco spicy.

McDonalds UK wants ground pork and beef products cooked separately and "Unfortunately, many of our restaurants do not have enough grill capacity to cook pork and beef products at the same time". So it won't be back.

Many years ago a friend of mine used to work at the factory where McRibs were made in the UK. He brought some to BBQ at home and they tasted fantastic.

Mcd UK know they can take the piss out of the UK public and they'll keep lapping it up and coming back for more.

How long have people put up with cold horrible food it's like their usp.

Other countries get unique mccafes with barrista made coffees and pastries we get automatic machines and defrosted doughnuts.

The problem is there is no chain really close to it for them to have competition.

Bk is more expensive.
Independent shops are just too diluted.
The new US/Canadian chains are even more expensive than mcdo and don't have the spread of stores.

This is the key really isnt it. If you want a fast burger they are cheaper than all the others and they have the footprint. My town has four of the places and not a single BK, KFC etc
