Mushroom, garlic, chicken and cheese. I like my omelettes dry and well done:

Jacket potato with mince Bolognese type stuff. Just like the steak people, I pre cut the spud up so it can all be eaten with just a fork, whilst simultaneously doing other stuff around the kitchen.....

hehe I think that strays out of unpretentious and into dirty takeaway territory.
I think unpretentious when eaten on the bed and is your whole meal, rather than being some sort of fancy starter.

Dinner is back with more pork goodness (garlic, paprika, pepper and balsamic vinegar), brown bread this time though. I ate half before taking the photo so peeled it back for visual enhancement. The other half of the sandwich had a few more shrooms. Consumed, as usual, wandering around the kitchen clearing stuff up:

The good news is that there's several porks left over so lunch and dinner tomorrow is sorted.

Which small European airport do you have the misfortune of taking a Ryanair flight home from?
To be fair, it probably looked slightly better before I ate half of it as some will be thinking about poor portion size. It tasted good though and filled me up which is the main thing you want from food.

It wasn't the portion size. It was because it looks like an underpass cardboard home served on a bed of Columbo's jacket.
It may have looked like that, but we don't eat or taste 'looks'. It tasted good which is all that matters. I.e. Unpretentious.

Another one where the food is pushed to one side of the plate. Is the empty space for bread and marge?
Unpretentious doesn't care about presentation!

No additional moisture required.

And I guess a white chopping board (doubling as a plate) against a white worktop, with white rolls does reduce the colour somewhat. However it tasted fantastic.

It ticks off the main requirements of food in that it tastes good and fills me up. It's quick to make and eat, minimal washing up, cheap etc. It helps not being fussy about food.

I don't mean to be critical, I mean if you enjoy it that's the main thing, but the above is hardly a recommendation!
To be fair, I would absolutely recommend not being fussy about food. Makes life a whole lot easier.

I have never complained at a restaurant. I have always been happy to eat anything in the cupboard/fridge, and pair it with anything. e.g. scrambled eggs, tuna with roast beef.

However, I draw the line at most fast food outlets. Too many calories/salt for me. Clearly I'd eat it if desperate but usually I'll wait til I get home and knock up some amazing non buttered sandwiches and save money.

A third of a plate of peas is just too much in my world. But good to see it's not swimming in some kind of sauce/gravy.

Surely we've all used gaffer tape for a kitchen emergency before? I know I have, to plug a hole in the extractor fan hose....not that it was an emergency but it was nice to be able to do it there and then.

Meals in pots are very versatile and I might start experimenting as an alternative to meat rolls for dinner.

Mackerel = very good. I usually have mine on toast but rice is a good shout. I don't do the chilli sauce ones though as it leaves zero mackerel taste which is kind of pointless. A bit like why I don't do sauce in general on most foods.
