if ordering fish, I'd you know..... expect some. a mass of batter is not fishEvery now and then my colleague and I (that’s the size of our team) go into the office in Leeds to prove that we exist. When we arrive we dump our laptops and bugger off to The Matthew Broderick on Minelleum Square for breakfast and our “software developers conference” which lasts til about 7pm. We always do this on a Thursday as it’s curry club. It’s bargain-tastic, the breakfasts and curries are great. The lunch curry is top value if you have a pint of Leffe as your included drink.
We did try having our “conference” in a variety of other “conference venues” around Leeds centre but after being in Spoons you notice how expensive it is - basically double. The other thing is that I’ve always found the beer in Spoons to be top notch.
Can’t beat the place, though the descent to the bogs in the bowels of the earth gets a bit tedious after a few pints.

That Fish & Chips is fking hilarious
Regardless of price, anyone who thinks it's a decent meal is utterly wrong
I like Wetherspoons, but that's taking the piss
I’d have sent that fish and chips back, regardless of where I’d got it or what it cost. Regardless of price, anyone who thinks it's a decent meal is utterly wrong

I’ve always had good food in a spoons and found the staff to be very nice too.
As we’ve established, if cheapness is your only measure of success then Spoons is hard to beat. But given humans have eyes and tastebuds almost any greasy spoon I’ve ever been would turn out something better looking and more substantial than that. Not sure what they cost but probably £8-10?

Most products you can buy will have alternatives that are far better, for 3 times the price. Well I don’t particularly for things that are just flat out cheaper for the same product. A pint of beer is a good example. Can’t really argue with that. Yeh atmosphere is missing, and all the other things I don’t like about the ones I’ve been in, but the pint of beer is substantially less than the same thing elsewhere.
However for me it doesn’t extend to the food, those meals look awful. They aren’t competing with anyone with stuff like that as nowhere else I’ve been would serve that.
