I'm at the Mikkeller beer festival in Copenagen and it's definitely worth a visit if anyone's on holiday in this direction. 225 beers on in this session, and over 500 across the weekend. Mikkeller, Pohjaler and Aben are the only ones here I've heard of, and I've only come across Aben because we went there last night
that sounds mega. I can see where manchester indy man got their inspiration from!

Perfect for a sunny afternoon. I like the lower alcohol ones.

Had this yesterday, not for the more traditional drinkers but incredible.

“Inspired by Blue Hawaiian cocktails, our latest smoothie sour was brewed with Staggeringly Good, and dedicated once again to anyone who’s ever asked; “Why can’t beer just taste like beer?”

Jam-packed with unfermented fruit for the freshest aromas and flavours, featuring ripe banana, juicy pineapple, coconut cream, and spirulina to create the iconic blue colour.

There’s stoopid, and then there’s staggeringly stoopid”

Agree. There's quite often more flavour in them and just easier/more refreshing to drink.

I get quite quickly bored of DDH beers and 6/7% beers.

Another that agrees. 4-5% is much more preferable. It does feel like 6% seems to be the norm these days although in France last week if I wanted craft from a supermarket it was 8% or more!

Packs a pleasant punch.
I have a fridge full of it. It is beer heroin. Just one at the start of the evening and I am fighting to stay awake, if I drink anything at all afterwards.
I was drinking La Chouffe before everyone knew about it. [/hipster]. Now that it is in all major supermarkets, it is becoming alarmingly popular.

It is quite normal for my local supermarkets to have shelves plump with every other beer, but one or two bottles of Chouffe blonde so far back that you have to be nine feet tall to reach it. It would otherwise be sold out I suspect.

I even saw a youth wearing a Chouffe teeshirt last week.

I don’t like things that I astutely determine are good being picked up upon by the hoi polloi. My children used to source it specially for my birthday. The only benefit now being that I no longer need to pay £5 per bottle.
My local sells pints of it!

Went to a craft brewery called Penrose in Geneva, Illinois a week ago. A very good selection of beers available there. My brothers and I had a few pints and some cans to take away…. $100 well spent wink

They are definitely very creative in terms of their beer ingredients and their names.

If you could imagine drinking a Jaffa Cake, this is what it tastes like…

…right down to that sweet-yet-tangy taste to the orangey bit just as you bite through the chocolate. Superb!

Currently in Birmingham - plenty of places to check out - Sommar Brewery, Indian Brewery , Burning Soul, Rock n Roll.

Came through Bournville so visited Attic, Glasshouse and Birmingham Brewery.

Plenty to see and do here !!

If you like your real ales I thoroughly recommend the Jewellers Arms - about 10-12 hand pumps of real ales available at any one time

Or the Craven Arms - possible one the best looking original pubs I have ever seen on the outside -

Again numerous real ales on offer.

manchester craft beer expo next weekend. Seems to have taken over from indy man, or at least indy man figured they couldn't compete / couldn't get enough breweries to commit to theirs as they were going to the expo. Massive shame really. £57 for 5hrs though, all beer included, which would seem on the face of it to be great value (potentially) but they only give you a smidge so you spend a lot of time queueing. Place is vast. I'll be going anyway.

That seems quite steep, but then I realised it is about the same as I now pay for a whisky tasting festival I go to each year (4 hours, albeit no queuing).

I think the last beer festival I went to was an all day affair but maybe £30-40 (pre COVID) - no queuing and as on all day it was fairly relaxed without being overly busy as folk tended to go at different times for a few hours. Sadly hasn't been run for a while now as the local CAMRA folk that organised it couldn't find enough volunteers AIUI frown Used to really enjoy it.

i used to go to CAMRA festivals quite a lot a few years back (before the craft beer boom) when they were like £5 entry! I still quite like a local one occasionally but find it a bit weird when there are lots of young kids there.
