From Ph's favourite place, Spoons.

Pretty good, but eggs needed bit more on top.

Were the beans cold? They usually are.

What on earth is going on there?
Its a Francesinha - made with bread, wet-cured ham, linguiça, fresh sausage like chipolata, steak or roast meat, and covered with melted cheese and a hot and thick spiced tomato and beer sauce. It is typically served with french fries.
I've had that in Porto, basically it is heart attack on a plate, but really yummy.

Simple but hit the spot. My wife likes her eggs cremated, I had three wobbly eggs but when photographed looked like CSV.

An excellent start to the week. It'll be good to see how the controversy of beans in a bowl works out.

Because the fried bread looks so good, the beans-in-a-bowl sitch can be ignored this time.

Alas I was compelled to implement auxiliary beanage due to insufficient sausage dam to the north east and a fear of absorption by the fried bread.
I feel suitably chastened. boxedin

The segregation of the beans is one, fairly minor, thing. It's the 30s microwaving that's the real let-down in the bean dept.

Nicely reduced and softened beans, in combination with that beautiful fried bread and black pudding, would have been stunning.

Defeat stolen from the jaws of victory. It's hard to watch, because so much was so right.

Yes, the plate shape and beans in a pot are the serious detractors here.

Very nice, no sauce?

But, I almost daren't ask, wtf is going on top right??

Btw beans were 'waved in said bowl I guess, slight reduction visible.

Some yummy looking breakfasts and it's nice to see some angular plates as well, maybe us "non-roundies" can start a revolution and show the world (or forum at least) that a full English is so much better on a square plate, its like playing a game of Tetris with sausages and bacon - everything has its place and fits perfectly.

McDonald's used to do it, I think? I've had it at a pub in Harbourne / Birmingham many years ago - it's a good combo.

I think “Sausage Syrup Cross contamination” is an accidental occurrence , but having had it can say it’s nice, but likely to be derided if done on purpose.

Jesus Christ.

Burgers and a choice of cavity wall insulation doth not a breakfast make.
