That Wildcard cherry gose is a Tesco beer. Even by supermarket standards it's not very good.
A gose is supposed to taste like it's gone off though biggrin

I purchased all the Tesco beers the other week. The sours were the best of the bunch. The cloudwater and tiny rebel was not a patch on what they normally produce.

Them cans of kings I got were £10 a can but I would pay that all day long. Sadly I lost a can to the Mrs so will have to await putting another order into France with friends to get more.

The Brewdog v. Cloudwater is a good beer. It is as good as some of the Cloudwater beers, but you also have to remember it's £3. A lot of Cloudwater fans didn't like the fact it was in the supermarket. That's influenced some opinions.

The price ceiling in the supermarket is getting higher and higher. The quality is getting better with every new launch. I didn't think the supermarkets would have such a range of beers.

I had Salt Ikat the other night and it's added to the list of supermarket beers I would buy.

Strangely enough I just finished one of those. It looks like the first piss after a heavy night out but it tastes divine- really reminiscent of some of my favourite (but now discontinued) Magic Rock collabs.

Not craft beer but bought a few bottles of Guiness foreign extra stout from b and m, that stuff is amazing and hard to get in the shops

Can someone recommend me some decent sours? Cheers
Been on the sour beer tip for a while now and everything I’ve tried from this crowd has been outstanding. You pay the price as mentioned earlier though.

Corner shop near me has started stocking that in the larger (750ml) bottles - I'd only seen the smaller ones until then.

Agree, it's surprinsingly good though.

All the stronger beers that Guinness produce are good to excellent imo - the Belgian Special Export and Nigeria FES are probably my favourites. Shame the draught is rubbish

As much as I like sours, Little Earth Project can be a bit hit and miss for some tastes - I have had really enjoyed some of their beers, and hated others.

Throwing in another handful of suggestions - Rodenbach, Tilquin, Cascade, and Jester King. Brewdog's Overworks dedicated sour brewery do some decent stuff as well

This thread seems a bit hit & miss to me, some "craft" recommendations being very mainstream in fact perhaps?
Anyway here's your chance to think about it over some biscuits...

On holiday and out for a bike ride yesterday, passed a sign for a brewery only open Saturdays, so thought it would be rude not drop in and try it.

https://www.brouwerij-westerwolde.nl/

Had a Friesse Pils while we were there (I don't like lagers but do like a nice continental pils), and bought half a dozen bottles to take away. The Summer of 69 IPA was ok but not really to my taste, the Thijs & Thijs Double IPA was really nice, and we have a Sterke Blond, Tripel, Imperial Stout, and a Bok still to try. Definitely worth following up on the sign biggrin

The definition of "craft" beer has been long lost, I suspect. It's been adopted to describe hoppy pale ales, whether they are from a craft or mainstream source.

The definition is much muddled. The terms is very overused and has been for a long time.

The usage of adjuncts is growing more with people buying sweeter imperial stouts and NEIPAs. At least with the use of adjuncts they get the flavours that the can suggests.

Just reading the reviews of that beer, why make a big deal about making beer the right way, and pretending it tastes like a caramel wafer, when it doesn't?

my current favourites are:

pilot beers (based in leith)- IPA or the Blonde

not necessarily ‘craft’ but need to give a mention to edinburgh beer factory- paolozzi. really enjoying that and very easy to drink!

and mrs malks has taken a shine to the lindemans range of sour beers. I think they taste great, especially the cherry, proper screw your face up sour!

As I'm still not sure about what constitutes a "craft beer" I'll add these.

Had a crate of TwoTribes and WildBeer delivered -

I like all the TwoTribes ales and pale ales, haven't done any fancy to it just honest beer.

My friend swears by WildBeer at the moment. Still don't know if I agree with all this adding fruit flavours and stuff into beer - I mean it's just not got the beer taste anymore.
He says it's refreshing which I guess it is but I like to drink a few pints of something and I don't think I could do that with these.

I would say that is the pick of the bunch, probably the best craft beer Lidl have ever sold. Not a bad price for what is being labelled as an imperial stout. The NEIPA from Stewart Brewing is a nice drop for those who like them hoppy, cloudy and fruity. The Left Coast IPA from 71 is much more like Punk IPA, lovely beer if you prefer some a little more toned down. SYL Black IPA is worth picking up if you like your dark strong ales, not exactly the wildest of craft beers going and not very refreshing in this weather but worth grabbing a few at £1.29 when it seems to go for £2.99 online..
