Jeyuk Bokkeum

Korean bbq pork belly… gochujang based bbq marinade… spicy, smoky, sweet, with an underlying umami. Charred on a smoking hot griddle pan. One of my favourites.

Spicy cucumber salad (thanks for the recipe as posted on this thead)

Not many things I miss about the UK here in southern Spain, but decent Chinese food would be on the list.

A bit of effort though, and you can get pretty close at home… helps that mega prawns are €9/kg biggrin

Garlic and chilli prawns, mixed veg in oyster sauce and steamed rice.

I hear you man.... Don't get me started on "Indian" food in the US.

This was a great recipe I found recently that's worth trying

A red onion, mixed with a spring onion. I like.

Works well with my Boursin on sourdough.

Boursin is an odd name for a cat.

Stuck at in laws.

Raided fridge.

Found french beer from 2018, crackers, Brie, Isle of Wight Blue cheese and some butchers gammon ham. And a pepper grinder.

Starving so will have to do.

Pinxos in a bar in a small Spanish town, one of those point at something in the display case type of places. Was raw, sticky yet slimy in a spicy marinade. The sinewy bits were very chewy.

Took a photo of the case for future googling, slightly regret my culinary decisions sometimes.

Yeah, raw pork can be a bit like that sometimes.

Early dinner at Lucarelli's in the Mailbox in Birmingham.

Started off with a bruschetta:

Then Lamb cutlets with mixed veg and roast potatoes, wife had Lasagne.

Very nice, would recommend if you're in the area.

Veggie Mexican tonight. Absolute marathon prep but tasted incredible. Yellow mole, charred courgette, refried beans, pickled red onion, corn elote, charred salsa, made my own tortillas.

Salt and oil mania…

Currently in Warsaw. Went to the food hall at the Browary.
Korean chicken, 2 types, rice, dashi and kimchi… about £8 equivalent.
It was lovely, but I couldn’t finish it!

That chicken looks good. We had a chicken selection box take out at work the other day and the Korean chicken always does well.

Anyway, sofa mongolian beef tonight.

Been away for a couple of weeks and we were missing home-cooked food. Frau GenX rustled up roast pork (crusted up in the frying pan with butter), I added mashed potatoes and our little green friends, with a dollop of apple sauce.
