afternnon chaps just thought ide share some pics of the mrs' old man's new toy. he got bored of his sr22 so traded it in for the twin turbo.
as they are quite rare here's the wiki on it

beast of a compasite prop to grab the thin air at 27,000,00 feet
here's the glass cockpit with the virtual ground display that lets you land zero visabily like the big jets etc
and heres a pic of the cabin with the lever for the rocket propelled chute (caps)above my head
here is a video from "how its made" about the (caps) system.
caps system in action
it's far from slow as well as saturday just gone he did swansea to newcastle in 1 hr 10 min !!

ye ahe had to do loads of training when he had his first cirrus as it was completely alin to him coming from the conventional controlls in a piper archer. this is his 4 th cirrus now though so its the other way round now. he would find it alien to use a normal wheel.re: 1hr10 yeah he beat his previous best of 1hr 17 as he had a good tail wind he said

which ones ? i don't profess to know alot about it btw i've only been up in it twice. but it does have the garmin virtual terrein thingy which i know they use on bigger jets etc
and i was told the service ceiling of the turbo was 27k feet (it has built in oxygen and anti ice'ing) but he hasnt used the oxygen as he hasn't been that high yet.
but if you know more than me please share as like i said im no expert

I've been told by a Cirrus owner that they can't be operated from grass airfields - which severely limits where they can go. The nose wheel leg is a bit fragile it seems.
Other than that, they are a serious (no pun intended) piece of kit.
There are a couple of Cirrus operating out of White Waltham on a regular basis, where the hallowed turf is hardly billiard smooth (granted, one did violently disassemble itself and burn out on take-off last year, but that was down to a handling issue rather than the runway conditions, IMHO)Other than that, they are a serious (no pun intended) piece of kit.
