Libya No-Fly Zone - What will we send?

I thought we sold a rook of planes to the Saudis and the rest in that area for them to do their own 'work', seems like the arab league are up for a bit http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/world/2011-0... so we can keep out of it

Just more sales/exports for us when they get shot down, let the arabs sort it, or are they too busy in Bahrain now trying to all the wealth amongst the top 0.00001% or something along those lines

How about the abundance of F3 Tornado's....could be just in the nick of time to keep some in service, and hay we still have one airworthy Vulcan and some Hunters in private hands, think there are a couple of spare aiworthy Lightnings kicking around in Leicestershire and South Africa as well

Well if the worst comes to the worst we can always use XH558 for bombing and the Victor at Bruntingthorpe for re-fueling. We know they both fly and I imagine it wouldn't take much to arm XH558 and sort the re-fueling equipment on the victor.
On a serious note it will probably be a combination of both the Tornados and the Typhoons. I wonder how long it is until they decide we need to actually have more than one plane and a little dinghy for our military forces.
Oh we actually still have two Nimrod R1s. Bloody good job. And there is probably still time (just) to save the Ark Royal. Harriers could have the decommissioning cancelled and be brought back active quick enough I could imagine. But still they would need to hire back all the pilots they made redundant first.

Change of destination tomorrow?
Hopefully they send the Typhoon, let it smack about anything in the area, and shut the army up about it being useless!
In my opinion, work up a squadron in air to ground, paint the jets green and call the squadron number whatever squadron army cooperation. Bingo, not spent very much and got the army backing your jets.

even money it being Typhoons based in Italy or Malta.
Lucky enough to chat to some Typhoon drivers in Abu Dhabi before christmas. They were out there play fighting with the UAE airforce, who have some trick kit by all accounts!... There seems to be enough hardware flying under Arab colours already (UAE, KSA etc) and without "their" support of a NFZ, we do run the risk of looking like we are messing on other people's turf.
I we get a little help from the locals and all our chaps come back safe and sound

I will be surprised if we end up sending anything....
As, BBC are reporting that MP's will be debating and voting on this in the house next week, and even if they vote in favour, and then the 'go' is made for a deployment, with setup times needed etc., I suspect, Gadaffy Duck will have finished quelling his rebellious natives by then, and there will be no need for a UK contribution to a NFZ.

I think so. Possibly deliberate; the longer they spend talking about it, the more likely it will blow over and we won't have to send/spend anything. But it sends the right 'message'...
