The display site at Farnborough is part permanent - part temporary. The chalets and display halls (which are huge) start to be erected about four months before the show begins. They are built on large permanent concrete bases which are set on the rising ground which leads up to the main Farnborough Road (A325). This means the concrete platforms can be terraced. Some of the steel structures are left in place when the main chalets are dismantled after the show.

There are permanent tarraced roadways throughout the site to allow both road and pedestrian traffic move between the chalets.

As the airfield is now civilian, the main internal roadway is now a public thoroughfare and it is possible to drive across the airfield from the new hotel and restaurant area (near Southwood) right over to the Queens Hotel roundabout side of the airfield, right through the display area.

The airshow is only held every two years so there is no airshow now until 2012.

Unfortunately, no more testing or research flying is carried on at Farnborough. What was once the Royal Aircraft Establishment is now part of a public company QintetiQ and is centered on the old Pyestock site.
