Gutted i missed this over the weekend

I was lucky enough to be with her for part of the last trip. Glenmallon - where we dropped off her bombs - to her birthplace the Tyne.
What an emotional trip! The whole ship was sad. So many tears but as the captain said they would arrive at North Shields with dignity. We did.
The slow painful early end to her life is hard to bear.
Having known the ship since her days in the builders and having worked on her through my (Civvy) job on several occasions, I was honoured to hear that Pegasus throttle down one last time.
Love the "For Sale" sign one of the Harrier pilots put in the cockpit window.

Took the OH and little miss md. to north shields and waved the ship and crew out from the Black Middens. We got absolutley soaked so left straight after it exited the the piers. Would've loved to have seen the harriers take off! The 2 rainbows that appeared between the piers about an hour before its departure would have made for a tremendous photo with the ship in shot.

I work on the sight of the old Naval Dock and in work theres the historic pics of the place, wouldnt even recognize the place now the people that used to work there, shame really but at least its been redeveloped into another engineering facility i guess.What an emotional trip!
