Going home yesterday from Cardiff central saw an unusual train, just wondering if anyone here can tell if it's anything special?

It was an EWS class 67 (I think) loco - silver quite pointy pulling 4 or 5 purple\brown carriages that to my un-knowledgeable eye looked to be 60-70's vintage - the sort of carriage that I would have travelled on as a child in the 70's anyway.

Some carriages had normal seating but certainly first class in terms of leather, space etc, but one had a large "board room" style table that ran nearly the full length of the carriage with seats all round and a model of the same train in a cabinet down the middle.

Any ideas?

That was the EWS managers train. I can't remember it's exact use but it varies. It's got on first class carriage, one buffet and one sleeper. I think it's used for some of their important customers or for the EWS management to tour the network.

They were off on a jolly up the Central Wales line this time.

Well I've heard of company cars but a 'company train' is quite a perk!

The top one is a loco, the bottom one is a driving van trailer (DVT), basically a carriage with a cab at one end so it can be driven from the opposite end to the loco.
