They're on Google Earth at 34°43'33.24"N 32°27'59.59"E- and is the other plane a Lockheed Electra?

There's a third Shackleton in far worse condition at the abandoned Nicossia airport too, along with a couple of Tridents

Do Air Atlantic still own the one in the States? They were trying to keep her flying until the Campaign Against Aviation allowed her to fly in this country.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem so...http://www.skippyscage.com/aviation/az/wl790/index...

As an aside and not wanting to hijack the thread but does anyone know if drawings exist of the mk4 that was designed by Avro for, I believe, the Canadians?
I've tried googling with no success but am interested to see what it may have looked like even though it didn't get past the initial design spec.

Can't answer that question but Aeroplane Monthly this month had an In Detail look at the Shackleton.
The old Shackleton factory at Woodford is due for closure soon so a rummage through sundry skips might reveal all sorts of goodies. It's amazing how callous companies are when clearing out. Often vital historical artefacts and documentation is discarded without a second thought.

MR.4 planned to use Napier Nomad engines - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier_Nomad

You're right - I heard that the original drawings for the Short Stirling bomber were being thrown away by Marshalls of Cambridge...Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
