Looking at the course map, they don't seem to spend anywhere near as uch time in the Southern Ocean as they did when it was the Whitbread

Correct, its been toned down this year. However, looking at the average boat speeds for the last few days and the weather they have been exposing the boats to it would appear that the design changes have resulted in a more robust boat, touch wood.

Also I think the circuit is a bit more sponsor friendly wrt to attracting new sponsors from the far east etc.

I am thing about going to the finish for my stag do or the leg leaving Ireland!

Should be interesting in January ....

They leave Singapore on the second day of the Straits Regatta ... starting 5 minutes after us in the J's .... that's gonna be one hell of a wind shadow!!!

It will be quite hectic, there will also be a few TP52's, Sydney 40's and MUMM30's in the mix, plus the PY boats (few 70 foot swans, big elans and benny's) and coming through from behind 20 plus F16 class cat's.

If it gets televised it should make for quite a hairy start to the first mark!

I think we will just try and be upwind boat, our J fleet is known for taking close quarters racing to extremes!!!
