Ainslie needs to finish within 6 places of the US sailor, whilst the Yngling crew i think have to finish within 1 place of the US as well.

Could make for some incredible match racing, reminds me of when Ainslie sailed Schmidt down the fleet in the Laser class in Sydney (i think?) to take the Gold.

Shame the whole race won't be shown.

Ainslie is one the best match racers out there, so he should be feeling confident going into Saturday's race. I'll bet we'll never see close covering quite as close as we will see in this one....

I am out in Qingdao, and was working on Medal Couse A today. Ainslie was awesome before the start (3 times) poor Zach will be having a sleepless night.
Allegedley he pleaded with Ben to stop covering him so he could at least get a medal.
Ben is as nice a chap you could meet off the water, courteous and unassuming, on the water he is one tough cookie.
Medal Race on tomorrow after the gals in the Yngling and then the 49ers on last current forecast is 8-12 knots but like most things Chinese what you see is not necessarily what is reality.
if you see flags on your TVs that look as if a gale is blowing it is just because they are made of the lightest of materials

hehe

The only thing Aislie can do (and will do, I imagine) is sail him out of the race. If he gives Zach any space at all, it could all go horribly wrong for him.

Well, good racing and great results in the end. THe 49er race was hilarious.

My brother works with a lot of the guys and was speaking to the support crew out there. Apparently each of the times the wind has gone like it did today, there's been a navy destoyer in the vicinity raising questions about whether something is being put into the atmostphere? Anyone got any thoughts?!

Interesting decision by the protest committee re the Danish(Croatian) 49er. Yes it is a good story but does this now mean for each medal race the contestants will have a back up boat on standby

6 am tomorrow is the Laser final, GB should get a gold.

Apparently the chinese were going to use technology before the event to deal with the smog by lacing chemicals into the atmosphere to create some rain. Not sure if high winds are a result though scratchchin
