A jet ski is something you stand up on and a WET BIKE is the sit down one? There are a lot of questions about jet skis but most people seem to be talking about (what I think are) wet bikes. Unless the boating community have now classed them all generically. Jet skis are for people with very good balance skills and wet bikes are just plain easy fun. What's the story chaps?

No, a "Jet Ski" is a brand name coined and trade marked by Kawasaki, all other jet propelled water vehicles ( small ones ) are technically call Personal watercraft.

Bit like "walkman" every one called them that but it was only sonys that were "walkmans"

I am not sure what you are trying to find out, there are different type of PWC or "jet skis", there are sit down ones that can take 1-4 people and then there are stand up ones that you see a lot of people doing tricks on. There are also some very small jet boats that are on the cusp of jet ski/boat.

Don't get too hung up on the term jet ski or wet bike, they are just different names for the same thing ( PWC - Personal watercraft )

Edited to add a couple of pics
Jetski

Jetski

Both are Jetskis/ wet bikes/ PWC/ Fun/ Noisey bastads

Hope that helps

If you visit Wyboston water sports centre near Sandy in Bedfordshire and enjoy one of their water activity days you will partake in Waterskiing, wet bikes and jet skis. The epithet 'jet ski' makes sense for those standy-up ones but not for the sitty-down ones. I am not really hung up about it at all, just trying to sift out inexactitudes. Keeps the grey matter going!

And keeps you guys busy!!

They are the same, most PWC sold new now days/ for hire on beaches are generally the sit down ones. They in themselves don't have the name wet bikes, there are probably more of them buzzing around at the moment so they probably get called wet bikes more, but that is not their name.

The name Jetski for all of them makes perfect sense as they are all jet powered and they all skim the surface at great speed.

I have only ever heard them called wet bikes as a derogatory term, as they are compared to scooter buzzing up and down people roads p1ssing everybody off.

yes
A wet 'bike' would have two wheels. Which would be silly.

As mentioned above Jetski is a kawasaki trademark.
Waverunner is a yamaha trademark.

They're all Personal Water Craft (PWC) but everyone calls them jetski regardless

A Stand up one is a solo

Sit down ones are runabouts

Fair comment but if you are going to criticise my use of English language then at least have the good grace to quote verbatim.
