Bond had one when he famously shot out onto the Thames from Mi5 HQ, but dealerships are sooo hard to come by and they're not even turning up on boattrader, any ideas, it'd be perfect for the occasional commute Henley to the City...

That wasn't a jetski with a roof, it was an armoured speedboat.

and I think they're known as PWCs or personal water craft these days. It might help in your search ..... but probably not smile

Some boat website said:
The opening sequence for the James Bond film 'The world is not enough' featured a water jet powered speed boat complete with the usual bond-type gadgets.

In reality there were 15 boats, 4 of which were fully operational and the other 11 were full size models. The working bond boats were powered by a 5.7 litre V8 running through a jet drive - like a jet ski - this enables the bond boat to run in as little as three inches of water. These powerful little boats were capable of reaching 65mph, perhaps more impressive though are their 0-50 times of just 3.5 seconds.

The James Bond boat hulls were initially constructed by Riddle marine with the fiberglass bond goodies added later by Pinewood Studios.
Looks like they were specially made for the film. Shame.

You'd better that performance from a standard £10k 250bhp supercharged jet ski anyway*.

Which would be utterly useless on that commute thanks to the speed limit on most of that route.

I think the short, err 'wheelbase' or hull length, could be a problem in bumpy water but wouldn't it be fun to have the equivalent of a large engined small car, on the water..where you didn't need to get wet.

Is the roof so you don't get wet?

You may also need sides.

Even worse than getting soaked, and the speed limit: PWC's are actually banned all along the Thames.

Commuting seems out of the question then, and it doesn't have a screen, that's no good, also, it's a bit too big looking at the pictures..I still think a micro-speedboat, not much bigger than the occupant, enclosed, would be outstanding fun and really portable. Maybe jetpower doesn't make sense but it would be good for 'beaching', 1970's bond style in Miami if I recall.

So if you're not now commuting, why the need to stay dry?

I always thought the film boats were based on these: http://www.v8superboats.com.au/index.php They look fun either way.

Jetskis used to be known as "Essex Windsurfers" a while ago...
