Biggin Hill Airfair
Discussion
nice!
I checked the weather forecast earlier, they said that the weather is supposed to be the same as it was now?
I'm gutted the vulcan isn't flying though, the list of flying aircraft seems a bit short (unless it is my imagination), it's my first trip to biggin hill airfair so dont know what to expect!
Anyone going to RIAT this year?

The girly and I are going on Sunday in the Eunos. Last went a couple of years ago on a scorching day that saw my MR2 Turbo overheating big time...
The guys in the 'Swift' team that fly a formation aeros sequence in gliders, first when hooked onto an Extra or Pawnee and later when in free-flight is absolutely eye-watering to watch. Saw them at Abingdon a few weeks ago and thought that they'd totally screwed things when their inverted mirror formation came down to not a lot of height with not a lot of room to land, but of course they'd just practised it to perfection. They'll be there this weekend AFAIK.

Hey, had a look around this - how the hell do you drive it
Was a really great day (apart from the hour to get parked).

I left just as the Tornado,s were going up,in what i think was the runway attack scenario??.Cant be sure as i didnt have a program.By the time i got to bellingham, both pairs of Tornado,s made a low hard right bank towards Biggin over Bromley road,at the junction of Southend Lane.To say there were some startled bystanders was a bit of a understatement.I dont think they were expecting that on a saturday afternoon.

I've lived and driven in London for 10 years and I have never seen anything like it. Moving a car length or two every 5 minutes from 4 miles away. If we hadn't been on a one way road we would have turned round and gone home.
Left Bromley at 10.30 hoping we'd be there for first flight at 11.30. Radio said 35 minute delay. Later on they admitted it was more like 2 hours. We got in at about 2pm, just before the BoB Memorial Flight went up - would have been gutted to miss that.
Apparently not many after us were allowed in. If I had queued for that amount of time and then been told to turn around I think I would have killed somebody.
Planes were magnificent.
Traffic management was woeful and it was choc full of chavs unfortunately. Can't they have the funfair somewhere else so they'll all bugger off and leave those of us who want to see the planes!?
Found a nice quiet vantage point right at the end of the runway which was much more peaceful in the end. Shot around 500 pics I think
Seriously, they need to sort out the traffic management, never seen it that bad before and won't be going by car again. Maybe cycle next year.

You have raised some points there. We were placed next to the funfair this year, and you couldnt hear yourself think, let alone hear the aircraft, with the amount of s**t coming from the funfair. The chav element has increased over the years along with the to**ers walking around bare chested, lager can in hand.I decided after last year, that i wouldnt take the jeep this time around.I nearly ripped someones head off last year after i caught some p**ck on the back of it playing with the .50.With a more depleted flight program, and large gaps in between the flying coupled with the chav element, then i think it will be our last Biggin Hill.I do hope you werent charged the full admission to get in?.Left Bromley at 10.30 hoping we'd be there for first flight at 11.30.
