Zap Cats aren't boats, they are outboards attached to life jackets. . . .

There a great toy, either on the flat, jumping around in the waves or even getting a towable on the back, miles more fun than any jet-ski.

that's a stupid thing to say. zapcats were designed as cheap to buy, maintain and race, racing boats and they form a one make race series and are owned by enthusiasts. toffee nosed public schoolboys tend not to bother with boats.

They werent designed as a racing boat at all,and for £8000 hardly cheap, they were designed as an inshore rescue boat in South Africa during the 80,s.There powerful and stable because they have to get through the high surf and were only brought into the racing scene during the last 10-15yrs.

Having photographed the Zapcats for most of the 2007 season I can say without a doubt they are not a bunch of toffee nosed public school boys.
They have a few teams of guy in there lates teens, non which are 'posh' but mainly teams of normal people who enjoy the extremities of the sport.

We origionally bought it to race,so went for the R/R version 2 years ago,but as the only races up here are either a play race at Hull or the same play race at Glasgow weve scrapped the idea of having to travel 5-600 miles for every race on the south coast when theres none anywhere else.To be honest we see the organizers as being very selfish,as it seems the only people zapcat racing is accesable to is those living down south!

We had a thundercat race event in Scarborough last year, it was great fun to watch, I bet it was even better to drive.
