There used to be a lovely Bermudan registered Nautor Swan kept on the Hamble called "Loophole" that always made me smile.

i've seen pretty dire names in the past on powerboats... i think the worst (without doubt) was "deep teaser"

There's a tradition in the Flying Fifteen fleet to try and get "ff" into the name somewhere, "Griffin" or similar. The FF has connections with Flying Fifteen, and also Uffa Fox, the designer. Not my kind of boat, but good racing nonetheless. Best Fifteen name I ever saw was...

...wait for it...

"Uffa Fox's Sake" bow

My Dad bought an Ovi 9 recently. I was trying to persuade him to call it zimmer fframe, given the generation that tend to sail them! He wasn't having any of it...

I've got a Laser 4000 called Dunk 'n Disorderly

soapbox Sorry, I was refering to the general population of the ff fleet, not anyone specifically. I sailed my Dads with him yesterday and had a great time.

Names of some of the boats in the family

Waveney OD (built 1931) "Meadowsweet" original name
Merlin Rocket "Seventhwave"
Merlin Rocket "Two's Company"
Princess 460 "White Sapphire"
Broom 35 Sedan "Drakeford II"
Princess 385 "Doffy"
Optimist "Bullitt" - how ironic lol! But I was 7 when I named her
Broads cruiser "Rivington"
Broom 30 "Miss Chief Of Kent"
Beneteau 5m "Leprachaun" - I hate this name, my brothers idea

Best name I saw was on a Laser. The bloke who sailed her was well into his seventies (pretty amazing huh!) and the laser was gree.

He called the boat "Green Coffin" ....always got a chuckle

My tender was tiny so I called it Incapacious, when I got a bigger one I called it Capacious.

Always like Hullabaloo on a blue boat.

Mine are Playtime II, she's been that for decades, other two are Red Fox (after the builder Scott Paine) and Dragonfly (dragged from a barn in Wales hence dragon, then fly cos it sounded better)

Looking for a Napier Lion engine for Red Fox.
