Boats - rubbish
Discussion
I took a sunseeker style power boat out for a spin with a few mates last week.
This craft was apparently getting on for 3/4 of a million sterling. Bit of a joke really when you look at how it's made - a huge plastic bath tub filled with tat - exposed bolt threads, chemical toilet, rover-esq fake plastic wood dash, diesel lorry engines, etc.
They clearly spend far more marketing than manufacturing them. To part with this much cash their owners are clearly 'nice but dim' types. The boat yards must be making an absolute fortune punting these on. Each sale is like a lottery win. I'm in the wrong game

Sunseeker miss the point a bit, they build their bigger boats the same way as they build the smaller ones using the same equipment, just bigger, of course, when you build a bigger boats the owner expects higher quality parts, proper stuff. This craft was apparently getting on for 3/4 of a million sterling. For bigger boats its best to buy custom or semi custom, like Leopard, you buy a hull and deck moulding and have it fitted out to your spec, Leoppard will do almost anything you ask, but its significantly more expensvie than Sunseeker. Flemming do less customisation but are built properly, different boats for different markets. Sunseeker are the cheap tat end of bigger boats.
ETA - just noticed you said 'sunseeker style' - what was it?

Depends what you want out of a boat and how much you have to spend. I look at them in the same way i look at cars - in that way i prefer a sports car to a luxury saloon. In that respect i think Sunseekers are the best looking - superhawk and predator are very sleek, they can be also be very fast with 3 x 1000bhp truck engines

We were on a large Fairline Targa. It looked pretty much like the sunseekers we were next to.
The only boats I've seen that look stunning are made by Wally. Not suprising, looking at the retail prices. I guessed the 118 would be around £4m. That was £10m short!

As a confirmed sailor I'd happily sell my soul for an old Riva Aquarama or Ariston. Proper motor boats.
I'm not a sailor by any stretch of the imagination... but I'd buy a Riva Aquarama just to look at it if I had the cash spare! It's certainly something to add to my future goals list. What sort of license do you need to pilot one of these beautiful craft?MitchT said:

cant wait to show you my new website its goig to be ace! We are now cigarette dealers for the uk and will be trying to arrange demo days in the uk. we have a few ph members intrested allready are were thinking about doing a ph saturday demo! ps how long/hard work are website builders we have our own in house team and they keemp changing there mind on how it sould look. doing my head in but when its done it should look great.
Would've thought the average PH'er would be inclined more towards Hunton Powerboats. If a Scumseeker is the nautical equivalent of a Merc E220CDI estate with 22" AMG wheels, then Huntons are somewhere between a Noble and an Aston, but with better handling!

I did a poker run this weekend on the solent, a friends sunseeker xs is quite a capable boat in a bit of chop. Not particularly well built though, already showing some stress cracks.
Was also a rather nice Hustler out having a play.
