I picked a good day to be WFH biglaugh

Apologies for the video quality, I was shaking so much. This is me in my back garden, I was absolutely delighted.

I think I captured the Merlin sound well enough.

Great sound clip!

I love videos that show more than one Spitfire and/or Hurricane - the combined sound is so visceral and spine tingling.

I went to the Shuttleworth Season Premiere in 2019, as I was working in the area. The sound of the Merlin's as these three came into sight, banking over the airfield.... spine tingling

Something quite evocative watching them taxing and taking off from a grass strip, too.

Duke, it was Manna from Heaven for myself. I have always had a love of aircraft and flying. One of my hobbies is flying RC Aircraft and I have a Spitfire I have been flying for over 30 years now. Only rarely mind, it’s not an easy thing to fly.

I knew about this flypast last week, and I was going to ask on here if anyone knew any details, but I never got around to it.

I honestly thought it would not be passing by near to me, then the local news website posted its route, of course I was WFH and couldn’t be distracted.hehe

Then I thought, bloody hell, that’s flying right over my house!

It WAS a spine tingling moment, so special, and on an absolutely beautiful day.

We get 1 or 2 flying overhead pretty much every day in the summer (not too far from Duxford), normally get 2 or 3 minutes of barrel rolls and the like. I'll never get tired of it..

Similar for us, with the passenger flights taking place out of Biggin Hill, we’re just outside Tonbridge. I also will never get tired of it, and always look whenever I hear them.

We were on the top of Tennyson Down on the Isle of Wight a few years back watching 2 doing circles of the Solent. Amazing sight and sound...

One flies out of Blackbushe some weekends over the spring / summer and it is always a spectacle.

I never tire of running to the garden to see it circle above the local area

Thanks for posting that, absolutely understand your excitement.

I always get goosebumps (and a lump in my throat) hearing anything with a Merlin flying overhead - I can’t explain why and my Mrs thinks I’m weird.

Some of you guys probably understand though…..right?

Oh absolutely, it made my day / week / month!

I couldn’t believe it was passing over my house, I’d been tracking it down on my Plane Finder App from the Solway Firth.

Unmistakable hearing it approach, I just wish the video could have been better - however all I had was my phone. It was at about 1-2 thousand feet. And still bloody loud!

In which case, my mistake, it may have been G-ILDA then.
