New Zealand Super Cub Fun! - Page 1 - Boats, Planes & Trains

No, it's not me.
But I'm a Kiwi who learnt to fly out of Christchurch when I was 17.
I had a great time flying with the Canterbury Aero Club - their Super Cub, Piper Arrow, aeros in the B121 Beagle etc.
The Super Cub made every alpine cross country an adventure - great trips to the West Coast.
I also flew a C172 with the Wakatipu Aero Club.

Flying in the Southern Alps was a very special experience.

I've now been 30 years in London where flying of that quality isn't readily available.
May be in another time & place I'll return to it.

Nice. Geraldine boy here, Have had a few flights around South Canterbury and Mt Cook in various planes and microlights. I also hitched a few rides around NZ on FieldAir Freight's C47s about 40 years ago, which was awesome.

Wednesday 6th May

Well, NZ, Oz, US & Canada are great places to learn to fly - big open spaces & great geography.

In these places, general aviation has legal parity with airline transport in terms of rights & access to facilities & they're the (along with South Africa) the cheapest places to fly.
