Handheld Marine VHF
Discussion
My Handheld VHF finally died earlier this week.
Involving a Mirror Dinghy / Seas off the Inner Hebrides / Rusty Rudder Pinion you get the picture.
I've got some offshore stuff coming up in bigger boats soon so am looking to replace it:
Must Haves:
Waterproof
Floating
Cell batteries (Sometimes I don't have access to charger)
Would be nice to have M1, M2 (p4)
Don't want to spend a fortune, but needs to be decent.
Im thinking Icom - any thoughts?

Does anyone sell a handheld that uses separate cells? I've not seen one for decades. If you need to rely on the radio have more than one battery, some can be supplied with an emergency single-use battery which are generally guaranteed for 5 years. Icom are what I use at work but then I'm not paying for it.
My club gets through them, Icom and Standard Horizon are 'better' brands in our experience.
Personally, I have an old Icom which has a removable battery, which can be substituted with an AA holder.
I don't think this is a thing any more!
The modern IComs are mostly 5V/usb charged?
So you could recharge with a USB power pack?
Battery life is quite long if you don't transmit much.
