This is a bit odd. Due to leave at 6:15pm on the 5th, aborted takeoff due to “an issue with the wheels”, Fire Service sprays the front wheels with foam, and it is stuck on the runway (dropping the airport to one runway) until mid-morning on the 6th.

Whatever was wrong with it meant they couldn’t tow it away. Both front tyres punctured? Brakes jammed on?

Brakes overheated and the tyre plugs popped as a result?

One of the engines had a TGT issue, didn't say what so aborted take off, assume the plugs popped due the the heavy braking as above

Unusual that the nose wheels were affected. They don't have brakes.

The two tyres that popped their plugs were main gear. The fire crew sprayed all tyres as a matter of procedure.

That explains it then. Still seems odd that it then sat blocking the runway for at least 12 hours.

Unless of course that is nonsense and it was dragged to a taxiway.

It was full of fuel, they needed to get the pax, cargo and fuel out before changing the wheels to get new tyres on so it could be moved for inspection, all this after dousing the brakes and letting them cool.

Once the runway is unavailable you do it in the right way.

Rumour we heard, was they were going to tow it off, but the wheels/tyres were too badly damaged and it would have ripped the runway up.
The A380 and B777 for Dubai and Doha had to stop in Perth for fuel that night as the other runway is too short.
