Just curious! Looks like it took off from Bournemouth. Wondering if it's marines/SBS shenanigans...

I've seen NOTAMs in the warning of boat dropping in the area, but that was in the C-130 era - I'd imagine chucking them out the back of a C-17 might be a bit more involved.

Last time the topic was discussed on the Flyer forum, my reaction was to think "Yay - Free Boats", and arrange to be out on the water awaiting the delivery of my new shiny air-delivered boat, but was advised that would cause a high degree of disgruntlement amongst the gentlemen already out there bobbing about waiting for said boat delivery, the sort of gentlemen you really don't want to disgruntle.

Yeah, I've seen them dropping boats and their guardians from a Hercules over Studland Bay as well as recovering a RIB by Chinook. But this one was at 10k ft though.

Too long playing FS2000 and trying to get a bullseye on Corfe castle with a bag of flour chucked out of the window?

I would have said something to do with the boys from Poole but the track is mainly over land and aligned to the swanage steam railway line (good visual cue i guess).

We'll never know or find out, even if the Bournemouth Echo want to run a feature article for the next 3 weeks with all sorts of conspiracy theory.

It may had been testing something with folk on the ground.

the "Big boys" are probably not onsite at the moment as well btw.

Not entirely sure, the general consensus is a training flight but it was a cool sight, came very low over Barton
