So, here's a Friday geeky quiz for you.

This Bell JetRanger has just come back from a repaint, will be flying again in a few weeks.

The new paintjob features three colours (ignore the skids and crosstubes, they will be done to match the lower red colour)...all of which are automotive. A free tufty badge for the first person to get all three correct. If you guess three colours, I will tell you how many you got right. And there is only one right answer, no alternatives allowed.

The colours are from three different car manufacturers with no common link other than I liked them.

Not sure about the silver but the blue reminds me of Atlantis Blue or Snapper Rocks Blue and the red reminds me of Calypso Red, all BMW colours.

One out of three. All three colours are from different manufacturers

Can't all be right because either the blue or red is something else:

I'll pick BMW Calypso Red 'cos I had a very nice 730i V8 in that colour for 8+ years.

Sorry, close but no cigar. The top one is a grey, not a silver, so half a point.

If 'Aston Martin Grey' gets half a point do we conclude it's an Aston colour?

A BMW main dealer that I visited earlier this year had Atlantis Blue and Snapper Rocks Blue swatches next to each other on a display in the showroom. I took the liberty of grabbing a photo...

As far as I'm aware, Atlantis Blue was first available on the E36 3 Series Coupé facelift model in 1997. Snapper Rocks Blue first appeared on the LCI F32 4 Series Coupé in 2017.

So, I guess which blue it is will depend on the age of the aircraft. If it predates 2017 and the repaint is faithful to the original colour scheme, then I'd say Atlantis. If it's a new colour scheme then it could be Atlantis or Snapper Rocks.

Thinking again about the red, it reminds me of the color of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage that I sat in a few years ago - Toro Red.

This far, we have had one exact colour mentioned and one other correct manufacturer but not quite the right colour (think Alan Partridge podcast, if you do that kind of thing). The third manufacturer is still a mystery. It's a very Pistonhead one...

Half points for manufacturer and colours.

Won't try all three, but I'm thinking rosso fiorano for the red.

Red - Cherry Red: Porsche (as in the 992 Targa 4S Heritage and others)
Blue - Snapper Rocks Blue: BMW (well done MitchT)
Grey - Eiger Grey: JLR (Stornoway was a close call)

sfella came up with a JLR colour, albeit not quite the right one.

No one mentioned a Porsche colour... can't get much more Pistonhead than that

If it isn't Stornoway I'd go for Orkney grey, no idea what Porsche call their colours but I think it was a 993 Turbo colour
