I take it that's the He 162 Salamander from its time with the RAE Evaluation Flight ?

Correct, except it didn’t have an Air Ministry serial number, so, I was told, that means it didn’t fly except to get to the U.K. after the war.

I drive past Duxford very often and today was treated to Sally B flying very low and very close to me as I drove towards the airfield from the A11!!
Proper goosebumps moment!! She was joined by a P47 Thunderbolt-glorious!!

It probably never flew here from Germany.

The other surviving He162 in the UK, the RAFM's example, also never flew in the UK, and was transported to the UK by surface transport from Germany, so likely this one probably came the same way as well. The RAFM example did get a AM number, VN679, but never flew here in the UK, despite some sources saying it did, but RAFM have said for some years it was confused with the identity of one that was flown by RAE. These are the only two He162 survivors in UK of the eleven that came to the UK from Germany, only 5 of the 11 were flown here in the UK. One of the 11 that came to the UK, was donated to a Canadian museum in the late 1940's.

The F-35s and F-15s flew directly from Lakenheath

If you are talking about the USAF F-15E & F-35A's, they are RAF Lakenheath based aircraft.

Friday was a 'Flying Day' event. 'The Americans' in this case.

There was a hopeful rumour prior to Friday that the Boeing TP was going to fly over to Duxford from Farnborough in the F-15QA.

That's a somewhat ironic suffix given Boeing's quality assurance issues of late!

Surprised to see the resident B-17 do a few engine runups and then a full-on flight! My son amd I were absolutely delighted.

I’ve lived on the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire border for 22 years and often get vintage planes from Duxford and Shuttleworth flying over. Not uncommon at all to see hurricanes or spitfires going over, but my lasting memory will be of the final Vulcan flight going right over my house. Duxford is a fantastic place to visit.

I was over in the cheap seats on the other side of the airfield. It was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
