Never been to Sywell, but given the current attendance, I think I will make the journey this year, assuming that there will be more to come too, given that it's only January.

Red Bull don't have a P-47?

I assume it's 'Nellie B' owned by Fighter Aviation Engineering and maintained by Air Leasing at Sywell.

I've bought tickets too and it'll be the first time I've been to an airshow of this type rather than RIAT etc. Just need glorious summer weather now whistle

Having seen the full list of attendees I can say the list so far has some great additions still to be added

I, alongside Sam & Ian from UKAR, met Richard Grace from Ultimate Warbird Flights (cheif organiser of the show) 2 weeks ago & discussed the show on our podcast (we also got a tour of UWF restoration & storage hangars )

Thanks for the listen, I’m sworn to secrecy I’m afraid, I will say its good enough for me to buy tickets for both days though & the only show I ever do more than one day at is RIAT

If you’re interested enough future episodes are with Richard Grace again talking about operating the UWF fleet, his 2 genuine ‘109 restorations & the Tempest and with the organisers of Midlands Air Festival

I have been a fairly regular visitor to all sorts of events at Sywell over the years due to the close proximity of my in-laws.

The most recent was the 2023 Ferrari Owners Club National Day. They organised the P47 and Mustang to perform a combined display. I think less than 10 people bothered to wander over to the flight line barrier to watch them.

This sounds incredibly tempting - did RIAT in the Vulcan era so a little concerned about how big is this show and is it really worth £ 250 or is £ 38 enough ? TIA

£38 seems a good price. £250 less so! One thing I would consider is the traffic. The roads around Sywell are small. My in-laws used to live 3 miles away and the traffic jam for big events would often start well before their house and that was just one route in. Get there early if possible. Also the £10 priority parking might be wise, if it gets you into the airfield. Otherwise you will probably end up on the (sloping) farm field on the other side of the road. Fine if it’s dry, but possibly awkward if it’s wet.

Given we live less than 10 minutes from Sywell, I've managed to convince Mrs QQ and Little QQ3 that we should go on Saturday, and even managed to get bunch of friends to join us! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

If parking is such a problem, maybe I should get everyone to park in our field, then hire a minibus. 1 person could do a couple of trips, then come with a single car. Hmmm, it could work...

It's not just that parking is a nightmare there, it's that the roads get gridlocked. It often gets to a point where it's quicker to get out and walk and meet up with the driver inside the event.

Too true. There was a school summer holiday meet-and-greet with Mr Maker of CBeebies fame at his book publisher’s farm, just outside Sywell many years ago. Such was his popularity that thousands of mums descended on the area with their little darlings in hundreds of MPVs. It was gridlock for miles around and many were turned away in tears.

Well, Sywell is only 6 miles from us, so if it's a nice day, maybe we should think about cycling there rather than taking the car then?
