Evening

I had the misfortune of traveling with KLM last month from split to Bristol, changing in Amsterdam.

On arrival in AMS I was informed the connecting flight was cancelled. After a lot of queuing etc and being presented with a lousy E15 meal voucher, we were rebooked on to the next flight 6 hours later.

Four hours into this wait, we were informed that the new flight was also cancelled.

Much queuing and arguing later we were rebooked onto a Manchester flight that was leaving imminently, and were told KLM would reimburse for onward transport with no cost limit.

I sent off the taxi receipt (£400) straight away.

I chased them up on the phone after 2 weeks. They said they would expedite it and reply within 3 days.

3 days later, no reply, so called again. Was told there was no way of expediting and would just have to wait.

Left it another week and had a lengthy live chat. Gist of it was wait. Could be a week, or a month, or a few months. Then they would look at it. And they had no clue how long this looking at would take to do when they did look at it.

Left it until yesterday and called again. Was told they could expedite it. And a supervisor would call back. This, of course, didn’t happen.

Thinking of just taking them straight to small claims court, as getting fed up with not just the time it’s taking, but the lack of ability to say how long it will take to be resolved, or even a guarantee that it would be.

According to EU regs, they also owe E600 or so compensation.

Any thoughts very welcome!

A letter, recorded of course, detailing the circumstances, the costs incurred and the regulations claiming all you are entitled to. 28 days to pay, or you reserve the right to add interest and will take unspecified action to recover you monies and any further costs incurred.

Thanks that sounds a sensible plan.

To the UK head office, so you aren't (if it comes to it) dealing across legal jurisdictions.

I'm no legal expert by the way, it's just what I'd do!
