Ideally you’d super-chlorinate the tank(s) and the whole system.

Basically a water & bleach solution would work - just take sensible ventilation and PPE precautions.

How can you not use the water? I was on my boat last weekend (3 people, 3 days) and we emptied the water tanks twice!

If you don't use the water tank I'd leave it empty.

Milton fluid?

I used the chlorine tablets for brewing beer. They're very cheap, can be ordered online and you can be sure it's safe to drink after flushing.

A lot of motorhomers swear by this product - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clean-Tabs-040569-Cleaner...

Although I use this, as it's a liquid and easier to mix https://www.prokleen.co.uk/pro-kleen-caravan-fresh...

Be careful if the same water tank supplies a water heater, as bleaches like Milton can cause damage to stainless steel boiler tanks
