Is this website still going it seems to have no updates. Was once a great aviation site now it seems nothing is on there.

If the OP was about it not updating, I believe there's an issue where you need to manually clear your cookies, so it refreshes correctly - a known fault the providers can't be bothered to fix.

Without wishing to sound like an old f4rt - it's not what it was. The site is very clunky to use, even compared to PH, the moderation borders on nanny state, & the comments veer towards puerile, too often. A lot of the contributors aren't as current in the business as they like to think, heading into their dotage, so it's littered with inaccuracies. I still dip in, but it's not the source material it used to be.

Anyone know the derivation of the name? it seems to have nothing to do with dried fruit.

Like it says in the banner on the site: "Professional Pilots Rumour Network"

I thought the same. The majority of posts seem to be less aviation-related and more like NP&E on here!

I assumed most of the current aircrews had probably moved elsewhere.

The original Pilot Officer Prune was a rather inept cartoon RAF pilot from World War 2 who was used to remind "proper" pilots not to do silly things, like try to land with their wheels retracted -

Yeah, I suspect like CB radio, it's time has been & gone. The worlds caught up, & overtaken. None of the younger guys I know refer to it much at all. A shame, but the main change came when the originator sold on, I understand why he did that, but it's felt like a pale shadow since.
