Spitfire and Hurricane at Blackpool airport yesterday
Discussion
Any idea why they would overnight at a civy airport, when another RAF station (Woodvale) is in the general vicinity? Can't Woodvale handle these types of a/c? Is it a size thing (Woodvale having only Air Experience / UAS types) or what? Is it easier to manage the spotters that would turn up? Pilots prefer the digs? Living nearby I've never understood this.

Fuel, ATC and fire cover. Not many of the remaining RAF stations have AVGAS supply on site now, plus many (such as Woodvale being UAS etc) will not have weekend fire cover/ATC etc.
