My boat has two taps; when you use them the water pump switches on automatically.

One of them not only looks a bit crap but has starting leaking badly. Is there any reason why a domestic mixer tap won't work?

Yes domestic taps are all the same. Boats ones just have boat tax added to them.

(the water pump automatically switches on when it senses a drop in pressure)

My kitchen tap is a standard domestic tap.

If you have space for a domestic mixer tap then it should work. If you need a smaller size one or one that folds then get one from a motorhome place rather than a chandlery.

That's great news, thanks. Should I look for LP taps or can the pump cope with HP?

That; caravan stuff is more or less identical to boat stuff, just cheaper.

That will depend on your pump, ours are 12lpm and we have household mixer taps in galley and bathrooms.
