When were the Islands started to be called towers....?? have I missed something since ....in my day??/
My fault; they just look more like towers than islands which I expect to have palm trees on them...The cunning sliding tower/island plan fails the reality test as you'd have to get the starboard wing past the rearmost tower/island in order to take off again...

You calling the islands, towers says a lot
It says he's not a rather dull ex-matelot. I'll happily chat about the QE Class carriers on here as there are numerous experts with many years of experience of carriers who offer their expertise and knowledge willingly. These people are not dull.
But please don't expect me to criticise an irrelevant mislabelling of a piece of superstructure by someone who most likely has limited exposure to the ships. Especially when the subject matter was a nothing more than photograph with an interesting depth perception. It's boring, it's distracting and brings nothing to the conversation. You can guide someone towards the more accepted name without being a knobhead about it.
In fact, I go out of my way not to use terminology that others might find too specific.
I'd suggest that if you had trouble interpreting what was meant by the word "tower" in relation to the layout of HMS QNLZ then maybe you're a bit challenged and I'd question whether English is your first language.
I am not ex navy so pleases bear with me, technically is one not an island with the captain , nav officer etc and the other “island” is the aircraft tower?
I don’t understand separating the two control centres and making them dependent on phones to communicate. I had a tour of lusty and the two officers in charge could walk the paces to communicate with one another. What happens if either is hit during a battle?
