Hi,
I've just watched the "simple flying " video about the THAI and EVA collision in Tokyo. No injuries, Aircraft damage only.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gfTYZH8LSM

As a layman, can someone explain what implications this will have for the Crew?.

Is a "Ground collision" a career ending for a pilot, and are there different levels of responsibility if the Aircraft is being towed at the time?.

EVA not really covering themselves with glory at the moment, but the recent Taipei incident was under tow and both aircraft empty apparently.

As the aircraft are being towed - who are the crew? Ground tug drivers who cause collisions are nearly always sacked. I recall one at CdG whose airstairs hit a walkway, with union support he avoided dismissal, but only because everyone 'knew' those stairs had a duff hydraulic unit!

Aircraft on tow don't have crew on them. An engineer will sit in the flight deck and monitor while the ground crew do the work (apart from a few things, beacon, APU etc). It's so uninvolved that it's unofficially known as brake riding, as they will sit there ready to hit the brakes if the shear pin lets go.
