I had to investigate. Here it is: https://www.allatsea.co.uk/news/amateur-yachtsman-...
Breaking it on a wall is probably the safest outcome.

There's always someone wanting to cross the Atlantic in an ever "smaller boat" - totally nuts!
In terms of the highest levels of seamanship & calculated risk taking, it's hard to look past Frank Dye & Bill Brockbank's ocean crossings in a Wayfarer ; Faros to Norway and also Iceland to Norway - madness!
Their risk management/ mitigation was as good as it could be given the mighty challenge.

I met him at SIBS and sat in the boat. Claustrophobic and terrifying, even on dry land. Whilst I can't even begin to think how he must feel having poured his life and soul into the project for three years, and gone from "on his way" to "game over" in 24 hours, I can't help but think this is the best outcome. Even if the boat had somehow stayed together, I think you would be so utterly broken physically and mentally that it would have been an utterly horrendous experience. At least he can now go back to his family and have a crack at something else.
