Fairford air tattoo... Which is the best day?

I'm going to get tickets for the Royal Air Tattoo in Fairford but can't decide which day and I have never been? It says Friday will be quieter but the green zone will be closed, does that I won't be able to walk around the aircraft? Should I put up with the crowds and go on the Sat/sun instead? Has anyone done the Fri and either Sat/Sun and can recommend which day?

Whichever day you go the golden rule is Get There Early. And I mean, "Early". Whatever time you were thinking of going make sure you're there at least an hour earlier than that.
