Great news, saw them last time they were there, 2019 I think, always an impressive sight and sound.

The Harrier arrival on the Friday, in the wet, was a sight too behold.

And the displays weren't too bad either!!!

Genuinely excited.

Awesome, be great to see a Harrier in the sky again.

Now just to wait and see if Santa delivers my wishes to see a B52, B-2 and F117 flying there too laugh

Last year was my first time at RIAT (what a scorcher the weather was) and we did Saturday & Sunday, which was basically a repeat (excellent all the same), but this year MrsTheWife has decided to come along, so we just doing the Saturday entrance and will watch a few hours of the Sunday from the campsite (Kempsford), before heading home-ish. I'm looking forward to seeing a Harrier in the air again.

Looking forward to this year! Got tickets for the Saturday but camping within a 10/15 minute walk from the entrance from the Friday until Sunday for the first time, just hope it isn’t pushing 38 degrees plus again hehe

Is it real or using replacement engines, a lot of replicas these days do not use the original stuff, understandably as a lot of it was destrioyed

IO know there are very few FW190's using original engines, or Me109s and I think there is only one Zero using one, in the USA

Saw some stunning RIATs back in the day. Vulcan on the ground, take-off and display. Russian stuff showing off as well. Simply astounding.

OT but the stuff Airbus do with empty airliners at airshows is pretty impressive IMO. No passengers; no cargo; low fuel - wow!

It uses much more modern engines. The original Jumos were terribly unreliable.

It's a modern recreation that uses General Electric bizjet engines. IIRC it was one of 5 built in the US in the mid 90s that used an origianl Me262 as a pattern. I guess it could be seen as "only a replica" but when you see how little original material is left in most flying warbirds these days it's not really any different. They were built very close to the original deigns, only mods were strengthened undercarriage. The engines were modified to be able to be fitted inside original Jumo engine case castings due to centre of gravity issues with the lighter modern engines.

Do you think avionics would be updated a bit, or would the pilot have similar era controls and instruments to the original? Would make sense to update the cockpit I'd have thought, as it won't detract from the experience for the audience or possibly even the handling for the pilot?

Whilst the Me262 will take most of the attention, yesterdays announcement was full of belting additions, the Metrea camo KC135 and Italian army bringing a Mangusta for the first time since 2005 are real gems

Does anyone know when the Americans usually confirm their participation?

I wasn't, but there are plenty of interesting USAFE options.

Not riat but I saw that the Saab Draken is coming over for an air show in the midlands - Ragley hall I think it was?

Quite a coup for them as apparently it normally has to display over water. Might be a sanitised display but still an awesome thing to see.
