Sukhoi 26MX? prophang - Farnborough 1990ish - Any videos?
Discussion
One of the Russian competition aerobatic aircraft* was flown at the Farnborough Airshow by a female pilot, probably in late 1980s or early 1990s. She took it up into a vertical prop hang over the runway, then, still in the prop hang, took it down the axis of the runway slowly revolving her aircraft on its longitudinal axis. The commentator simply said, "Aeroplanes aren't meant to be able to do that".
Is there an video showing this particular prophang?

- I thought it was a Su-26MX, but it may have been an SU-31 or even a Yak 55.

Almost certainly Svetlana. Details here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svetlana_Kapanina
Possibly. Svetlana was in the Russian team from 1991, although one photo caption I saw suggested it could have been Natalia Sergeeva, the 1990 Women's World Aerobatic Champion, who was killed in August 1995 in a Yak 54 at MAKS (Moscow AeroKosmos Show) in Zhukovsky.Edited by GliderRider on Friday 6th January 02:37
I vaguely remember the Farnborough footage - pretty sure it was Sukhoi 26 or 31, a Yak 55 is a bit lardy for that sort of thing. No idea where any video might be, but you might want to change your Google search term to "torque roll" rather than prop-hanging or some variant thereof. Whatever you call it, it's a great way to cook your engine if you're not careful.

Great find Ledaig! Without anything for reference it is hard to tell if it is a prophang, but certainly looks like it and is the closest I have seen. The date lines up too. Thank you.
