I read the book a few years ago and it was very good. I thought it was going to be a typical, autobiography style story of the first black USMC pilot, but it was written much more like a novel. It's main focus was the Corsair pilots, but also told the tales of some of the soldiers fighting on the ground as well, so it turned out in style to be more of an action-packed novel that happened to be a true story.

If the film is as good as the book, then this will be a great watch, and certainly a film I'm keeping a close eye on.
