Just doing this since there is nothing else here related to it at the moment.

Just had the 777X and 737 Max going over us. Given that they appeared to be doing a similar maneouvre, I was impressed that the 777 appeared to be quieter than the 737 - in fact, quieter than the private jets coming in to land normally.

Always impressive the angles they take up, being onboard must feel like a roller coaster

Just had a couple of military jets come over - didn't quite see them. I think the 2nd one was an F15, didn't see the first one, although might have been F-35.
It did sound like it made an "airwolf" type howl as it banked in though. Cue all the car alarms going off in the surrounding area. Those were the days when we had the US vs the USSR all showing off!

I love it when the airshow is on. smile

Is a lot less airborne this year, guess the new secret stuff is busy this elsewhere last few weeks.
Health and safety seems to be having an impact as well without the buzzing of the local car parks and more roads round the back shut off than before.

Yeah, shoreham really was a nail in the coffin - I think it had been in decline even before that, but after, I imagine traditional airshows over land became virtually uninsurable.

Probably a F-35 then, as they do have a pronounced 'blue note' type howl.

That 777 is so quiet. Looks nice in the air too.
Always thought the A380, for example, looked really dumpy. A shame they didn't build the long fuselage version - I think that would have looked much nicer.

F15 and F35 flew together from Lakenheath, so would have been the F35

Thanks.

Was a shame we didn't get the friday red arrows - they were all briefly grounded for inspections on the injector seats I believe.

Very wise; you wouldn't want to be accidentally injected!

Ejection seats is what Martin-Baker and all the world’s forces call them. You’d get the pi55 ripped out of you in the RAF if you said “ejector”.

Sorry, but after every newspaper refers to them as ejector seats, it has finally caused me to bite. Similar to them referring to aircrew as airmen. Christ, if I’d called a pilot an airmen I’d have been deeply frowned at!

"Oh bks" is because I agree with you and messed up. It's important to refer to things correctly.

So where are we with 'bang seat' then - in the bar with Maverick, or in the bin?

I wonder why that is? Ejection is the process of removal. Ejector is the device that does the removal. Curious.

Or:

“the action of forcing someone to leave a place or position; expulsion.”
