How have I managed to get to 47 and not seen Big Jet TV before?
I've got a load of work to get on with but am glued to my monitor. I'm on the verge of paying the £2.99 monthly subscription to get the live feed.
Am I alone?
It’s pretty good indeed. I've got a load of work to get on with but am glued to my monitor. I'm on the verge of paying the £2.99 monthly subscription to get the live feed.
Am I alone?
The bloke running it does talk some nonsense though but he’s entertaining and the coverage is excellent. Yesterday was very exciting, it’s normally a bit less dramatic.
We’ve had a few threads on here about it. On a windy day the big jet tv threads become like the PHs Eurovision one and pretty fun.
Jerry is a legend, he works tirelessly to bring live show from around the world. He is very knowledgeable and is great fun when he is presenting. Member only shows have a great chat feed with lots of useful aviation information.
I discovered Big Jet TV during lockdown and the daily shows filmed from Jerrys home with quizzes, Sim Vid, chat etc were a great morale booster. Jerry and Gilly, his technical guru deserve all the success possible.

He’s a great bloke and entertaining but he’s definitely not knowledgeable about aviation, from what he says on his live streams anyway. His enthusiasm is refreshing, for sure. He is, however, pretty clueless in an innocent kind of way. I think that actually works better for his channel, in a way.
I said this earlier on another thread. He’s pitching at just the right level for the average armchair viewer. We don’t need James May banging on about Vmax for the undercarriage or Decision Heights and the minimum RoC for a Go Around.
None of that makes an iota of difference to the palpable tension of watching 300 tonnes slam in to the runway in 70mph crosswinds.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a week long 'big jet live' on BBC with Jerry presenting, at some point. We've had springwatch, autumnwatch, winterwatch etc and all the fly on the wall documentaries so this could be another one.
They’ve already tried beforeIt was dreadful, because they overthought it and tried to explain away every last detail of airport ops, a great deal of which is either too technical for the average viewer to grasp or, at the other end of the spectrum, monumentally dull even with Kate Humble having a bit of a moment over it.
Jerry has proved all you need is some sporty weather, a handicam, several large airliners, bags and bags of enthusiasm topped off with a “Thinking out loud” approach to commentary.

Yeah that didn’t work, it’s too in-depth for the casual viewer and not technical enough for people really into it.
